Our stately Fiddleleaf fig trees, Ficus lyrata, are a popular option for clients who want to make a design statement. Pictured here at the Perez Art Museum Miami, their 6 foot stature provides elegant screening for a wall of windows, to provide privacy for a 2023 Louis Vuitton fashion show. These plants are one of our favorites, having presence in a room even with only one plant, as often seen in the pages of Architectural Digest magazine.

In a home setting, they are not difficult to care for, but will not thrive on neglect, so we recommend them for at least the intermediate-level plant parent. With some weekly attention they will be happy, adding a beautiful natural element to a home, while providing the benefits of cleaner indoor air. – by Melissa Markham, Oct 2023.

“As a creative plant enthusiast, something I love about my business is introducing clients to plants they haven’t thought about for an event, like this Alocasia. A product of nurturing and care, this mature plant with its new “babies” sprouting was at its peak and ready to perform! It went to an event with a rainforest vibe for Brown-Forman brands during Art Basel, and to a 2024 Easter Seals dinner event at Jungle Island, showcasing the talents of disabled and autistic young adults in the Culinary Arts High School. It made an appearance at another dinner event at Prime Private, and will soon grace the red carpet at the premiere of Cirque du Soleil ECHO. Ready for a well-deserved rest, the mother plant will then be retired as we wait for the babies to grow up!” – Melissa Markham, Plant Magic Miami, February 2024

Creative: noun. /kriˈeɪtɪv/ /kriˈeɪtɪv/ [countable] a person whose job involves creative work. “The exhibition features the paintings of local creatives.”

Creating live plant installations, using plant material as the medium, is an art form. We continually experiment with new species of plants, and inventing ways of bringing new, fresh elements to tried-and-true favorites. Every event is a new challenge, and in painter’s terms, a blank canvas to manifest a unique creation.

The ephemeral nature of events makes them even more magical, as we create a moment in time with plants. As Nature is constantly changing, so is each installation: a terrestrial event bringing together the built and natural geography of the event space, the botanic actors, and the vessels or hardware.

Nature-made and human-made elements are combined with touches of alchemy unique to the creative process, in a specific time and space, to be enjoyed by the observer. Attending an event, immersing oneself in a biophilic environment for a moment in time, experiencing a feeling, even awe, a kinship with Nature encoded in our DNA, which later becomes a memory of the event, forever cherished. This is the magic of plants.
